COURSES
FEES & REDUCTIONS
The following table lists the reductions available for particular conditions.
Category A: Full Fee
Category A states the full fee for the course. Some courses however are FREE (see below).
Category B: Means Tested benefit
Learners who can provide evidence to show that they meet the following criteria will
receive a discount:
- unemployed people in receipt of income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- those in receipt of income-based benefits, i.e. Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, and Income Support
- those in receipt of Working Tax Credit with a household income of less than £15,050
- those in receipt of Pension Credits Guarantee
- the unwaged dependants of those listed above
- asylum seekers eligible for LSC funding and in receipt of the equivalent of income-based benefit
- those on British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton courses who live in the same household as a BSL or Makaton user.
Courses starting with "P": Half Price.
Courses starting with "L": FREE.
Category C: Specialist Discounts
Learners who can provide evidence to show that they meet the following criteria will
receive a 10% reduction on courses on courses starting with "P":
- Derbyshire Gold Card holders
- Adults who have attended a Derby City Council Family Learning course in 2007/08.
16-18 year olds
All courses are FREE to learners aged 16 to 18.
Free Courses
"Skills for Life" courses in maths and English are FREE to everyone.
Lip reading courses are free to hearing impaired learners.
Note: Accreditation or Examination fees are payable on some courses. Details will be given at the first session.
