“I have enjoyed this course more than I expected to: I feel a big sense of achievement and feel more confident too.”

Does the course lead to a qualification?

Yes. There are three individual tests written by BCS (The British Computer Society) for Level 1. The Level 1 Certificate is worth 9 credits and may be transferrable to other IT qualifications. You are not allowed to use any notes during the exams.

On successful completion of the course, a Level One ITQ Award will be issued from BCS (British Computer Society), this is the latest ECDL Level 1 qualification.

Who is the course for?

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer, in either a professional or a personal capacity.

ECDL is a Europe-wide qualification, which enables candidates to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. Its aims are:

  • To raise the general level of competency in IT
  • To improve productivity at work
  • To enable employers to invest more efficiently in IT
  • To ensure the best practice and quality issues are understood and implemented

If you would like a chat about your skills before you join, please email surbjit.sall@derbyals.org for an informal skills assessment.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a memory stick for storing work files, ring binder folder, notepad, pen and proof of identification. You will be given high quality manuals.
