This qualification is for total beginners and people with some basic IT skills. It's a great start to learning and improving your IT skills for use in everyday life to make your day-to-day tasks easier.

The qualification is also suitable for those preparing to progress to level 1 functional skills in ICT qualifications

IMPORTANT - Key Change to Functional Skills Exams

There will now be a requirement for candidates to pay for resit Functional Skills exams (maths, English and ICT).

This will include anyone who does not arrive for their first exam - in these instances you must pay for the second and any subsequent exams in the same subject.

The fees must be paid 21 days prior to the exam.

The costs will be as follows:

SUBJECT and LEVEL COST        (£)

English Reading                             8.00

English Writing                               8.00

ICT                                                 16.00

Maths                                             16.00

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

Feedback will be given, both verbally and by the evaluation of completed tasks & projects.  You will receive verbal feedback on the results of your practical exercises.

Towards the end of each session you will use a DerbyLearn forum to record what you have done in class and comment on how you think you got on.  Before the next session your tutor will reply with their feedback.  This is a very good method of recording your own progress, reflecting on the session and a great way to receive motivation from your tutor.

Can I have help in the class?
