Course Information
What will I be learning?
The course will contain physical exercises that will improve or help maintain :
- Cardio-respiratory (heart and lung) efficiency through co-ordinating movement in dance movement style format.
- Muscular tone & shape using small resistance material
- Range of Movement giving more flexibility in the muscles through gentle stretching movements.
- Motor skills including agility, balance, posture, co-ordination and re-action time.
- Relaxation and release of stress levels
- Exercise technique and posture advice
Does the course lead to a qualification?
No, it doesn’t lead to a qualification but you will have informal assessments to monitor your progress.
Who is the course for?
This is a course designed for both men and women over the age of 50 who wish a gentler approach to conventional exercise
What do I need to bring?
You need to wear suitable clothing for exercise, lose fitting trousers and T shirt with extra layers that can be taken off during the session. Trainers or suitable foot wear is essential no heals. This should be suitable for medium pace activities. Although completely optional a mat of your own if wishing to use one

There are no additional costs
How will I know how I am progressing during the course?
Constant feedback throughout the session and after will be given through verbal questions and instruction. You will be asked to fill in a progression and evaluation sheet every 8 to 10 weeks in order to record your own progression and views about the course.
Can I have help in the class?
Adaptation and progression is given throughout the sessions to allow for all levels to take part. If you feel the level is too hard you will be asked during and after the session by the instructor and advice will be given to you to help.
If you would like to enrol on this course but think you will need some help in the class you could have the support through the Learning Partners Scheme. The scheme matches learners who need addition help with a volunteer to tasks such as cutting or measuring, reading and taking notes or communicating with the tutor and other learners.
