What will I be learning?
You will be learning the basic requirements and introduction into developing a career within the childcare industry.
You will look at the levels and career opportunities waiting for your development and how we at Derby Adult Learning can help and support you through this journey and progress.
You will gain a brief understanding and knowledge of a child's developmental needs and stages from birth to 11 years, and how as a childcare worker you will help to support and engage this development and learning.
Does the course lead to a qualification?
No, but is an introduction to Level 1
What does the course involve?
Discussion and practical activities over 4 sessions
Who is the course for?
Everyone with an interest in childcare and developing their career
What do I need to bring?
Portfolio and pen
Are there any additional costs?
No
Does this course qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan?
No
If YES you can apply for an advanced learner loan through the Student Loans Company – for full information about how to apply go to: www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan/overview
How will I know how I am progressing during the course?
Feedback will be given, both verbally and by the evaluation of completed tasks & projects. You will receive verbal feedback on the results of your practical exercises.
There is no formal exam, although there is continual evaluation throughout the course.
Towards the end of each session you will use a DerbyLearn forum to record what you have done in class and comment on how you think you got on. Before the next session your tutor will reply with their feedback. This is a very good method of recording your own progress, reflecting on the session and a great way to receive motivation from your tutor.
Can I have help in the class?
