Course Information
What will I be learning?
The CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STALIS) prepares learners to work with children (7+ years of age) in a specialist role in a school setting. This qualification covers the generic knowledge and skills required to work in a teaching assistant or similar role in school settings.
The course is made up of classroom taught knowledge and assessments of competence in childcare settings. You will be set weekly tasks to complete throughout the course to build up a portfolio of knowledge evidence. In addition you will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in your placement to carry out observations of skills in the workplace.
On this course you will learn how to:
- Support children’s individual and personal needs
- Support a child/group of children to develop literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
- Plan, deliver and review whole class learning activities under the direction of a teacher
- Observe, record and monitor a child’s progress
- Promote positive behaviour and challenge inappropriate behaviour
- Use assessment strategies to evaluate progress and support children/young people to review their own learning
- Follow the settings policies and procedures in relation to health and safety, equality, inclusion diversity, and safeguarding the welfare of the children and young people in the setting.
- Support disabled children and young people and those with special educational needs
Learners will need to be working in a school as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situation.
