Course Information

What will I be learning?

The CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STALIS) prepares learners to work with children (7+ years of age) in a school setting. This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in school settings.

The course is made up of classroom taught knowledge and assessments of competence in childcare settings. You will be set weekly tasks to complete throughout the course to build up a portfolio of knowledge evidence. In addition you will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in your placement to carry out observations of skills in the workplace.

On this course you will learn how to:

• Support children’s individual and personal needs,

• Support the planning and delivery of learning activities,

• Observe, record and monitor a child’s progress

• Support children’s development needs,

• Work in line with relevant policies and procedures including health and safety, equality, inclusion, diversity, and safeguarding

Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on a practical placement as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situation.

Learners enrolling on this course will need to organise a 250 hour paid or voluntary work placement (recommended over two age groups).
