Course Information

What will I be learning?

This course provides learners with an introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training

Learners will learn how to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training sessions.

The course will cover:

• Session planning

• Ground rules

• Ice breakers

• Resources

• Motivating learners

• Assessment

Learners must attend both days of the course.

On day 2 learners are required to prepare for and deliver 10-15 minute training session on a topic of their choice.

Learners are also required to take a multiple choice quiz to assess their knowledge.

Does the course lead to a qualification?

Yes, the course leads to the City & Guilds Introduction to trainer skills (7300), a recognised Trainer Certificate. Course which will provide you with a structure on how to plan, design, deliver and evaluate a training programme

What does the course involve?

Learners must attend both days of the course.

Who is the course for?

This course is for anyone who would like to understand how to plan and deliver effective training.

It will be particularly useful for people who:

• work or want to work as trainers either freelance or employed

• Are required to deliver training as part of their job role Minimum age is 19 years and over on 31 August 2017

What do I need to bring?

You will be provided with the resources required during the course, including handouts. You may want to bring along pens/paper for any additional note taking.

Are there any additional costs?

Yes, the accreditation fee is £52

Does this course qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan?

No

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

Feedback will be given, both verbally and by the evaluation of completed tasks & projects. You will receive verbal feedback on the results of your practical exercises.

There is no formal exam, although there is continual evaluation throughout the course.

Towards the end of each session you will use a DerbyLearn forum to record what you have done in class and comment on how you think you got on. Before the next session your tutor will reply with their feedback. This is a very good method of recording your own progress, reflecting on the session and a great way to receive motivation from your tutor.

Can I have help in the class?

Learner Support

If you need support to learn, for example, a communicator, large print, personal care, specific equipment, or extra time, let us know. We will work with you to identify what you need and how we can best support you.

Learner Support Fund

If you are struggling to pay your exam fees or have a disability and need help to pay for transport to the course, we may be able to help you. Ask the centre staff or your tutor for more information and an application form. We have a small fund available to help learners who are experiencing genuine hardship. You are advised to apply as soon as you can.

From the city centre head towards Kedleston Road along King Street and Garden Street. At the 'Five Lamps' traffic lights on Garden Street you will see a sign for the Rycote Centre, turn left down Parker Street then turn right and the Centre is on the right hand side, parking is on the street and the main entrance is through the Social Service's car park. The Centre can also be accessed from Kedleston Road - opposite the Polish Club - but there is no parking at this entrance other than on Kedleston Road 01332 717930 or 717924

Bus Routes:

Allestree Bus, Trent Barton, and No. 6, Notts and Derby University bus during University term time.
