Course Information

What will I be learning?

During this course, learners will learn the signs and symbols from Stages 5-8 of the Makaton Core Vocabulary and how to use these in everyday situations.  There will be information on how to produce sign and symbol translations and how to adapt your level of sign use to suit different individuals needs

Does the course lead to a qualification?

On completion of the course learners will receive Makaton Follow-up Workshop certificate. This certificate is in recognition of full attendance and participation.  No formal assessment is involved

This course is for people who have already completed the Makaton Beginners Workshop

What do I need to bring?

Pen and paper

Are there any additional costs?

There is an additional cost of approximately £28 for Makaton workshop participant manuals and certificate, which each learner must purchase (to be confirmed)

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

Verbal feedback on signing skills is given informally during the course. Tutorial time will also be made available for learners to discuss their progress.

Learners will keep a diary of their progress during the course

Can I have help in the class?

If you would like to enrol on this course but think you will need some help in the class you could have support through the Learning Partners Scheme. The scheme matches learners who need additional help with a volunteer to attend the class together. Volunteers can help with confidence, practical tasks such as cutting or measuring, reading and taking notes or communicating with the tutor and other learners.
