Course Information

What will I be learning?

You will have an opportunity to practise your BSL skills learnt at Level 1. You will also be able to build on your BSL linguistic knowledge. You will also be introduced to the standard required at BSL Level 2.

The main aim of the course is:

  • to enable learners to refresh their signing skills and to improve their ability in communicating with Deaf people who use BSL as their preferred language. Aim for learners to acquire more confidence and competence when using receptive and productive BSL with Deaf people.

Does the course lead to a qualification?

No. It doesn’t lead to a qualification but there will be an informal assessment at the end of the course by your tutor. If you want to progress to Level two you will have to enter the formal pre-course assessment process for a place on the Level 2 course which will start September 2018.

What does the course involve?

Two hours guided learning hours a week for 15 weeks.

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at learners who have passed their BSL Level 1 but are not yet ready to progress to Level 2. It is also a refresher course for learners who have passed Level 1 BSL but have not used their skills for a while.

  • Pen and paper for notes and an A4 folder for any handouts.

Are there any additional costs?

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

There will be continuous / regular assessment throughout the course with feedback and review from your tutor.
