Knitting & Crochet for Beginner's
Total Guided Learning Hours: 20 Hours
What will I be learning?
Basic knitting and crochet skills. How to cast on and off, basic knitting and crochet stitches, increases and decreases, reading and knitting/crocheting from a pattern, matching wool and needle size, basic finishing skills.
There will be opportunities to further basic skills and work on individual projects. Extra practise at home between classes will be an expected part of the course
Does the course lead to a qualification?
This is a none qualification course
Who is the course for?
Complete beginners or those with some experience of knitting or crochet who would like the further their skills and learn new techniques
What do I need to bring?
A basic ‘kit’ of 4mm knitting needles, 4mm crochet hook, large eye tapestry needle, small scissors, soft material tape measure and a pen and notebook.
Are there any additional costs?
Some materials will be provided for the first few sessions at a small cost but learners will be expected to source, with guidance, and bring their own yarn.
How will I know how I am progressing during the course?
Weekly feedback through the Individual Learning Plan and weekly opportunities to speak with tutor
Can I have help in the class?
If you would like to enrol on this course but think you will need some help in the class you could have support through the Learning Partners Scheme. The scheme matches learners who need additional help with a volunteer to attend the class together. Volunteers can help with confidence, practical tasks such as cutting or measuring, reading and taking notes or communicating with the tutor and other learners.
