Who is this course for
The AAT level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance.This course will give you a grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either to employment or to further study. This qualification is suitable for people studying bookkeeping or returning to work after a break or for anyone wishing to change career. The course is also suitable for people who are working, and want to develop their finance skills and knowledge, and those who are not currently in employment.
What are the entry requirements
You do not need formal qualifications to enrol on this course. However, you will need to have Functional Maths, English and IT skills.Additionally, before enrolling on the course you will attend an initial assessment to enable the tutor to provide advise if this course is suitable for you.
What will I be learning
This course will help you to develop a strong foundation of bookkeeping knowledge and skills, to work in accountancy and finance or to go on to study higher-level bookkeeping or accountancy.The qualification is composed of two mandatory units,
assessed in two end-of-unit exams:
Introduction to Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping
Controls
On the course you will learn about:
Practical accountancy
skills in double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and
processes.
Checking transactions for accuracy.
Making entries in
appropriate books and ledgers.
Calculating sales invoices and credit
notes.
Dealing with VAT.
Reconciliation and trial balances.
The
relationship between the various accounting records.
How will I be assessed and supported
You will have an Individual Learning Plan to set and review targets and provide feedback, enabling continual reflection and evaluation throughout the course. You will also receive verbal and written feedback on marked work. You will use your ILP to help track and monitor your own progress towards set goals, to support personal development and achievement.During the course, you will complete two online exams which you need to pass to achieve the qualification.

You will need to bring a pen and folder.Any additional costs?
There is an exam registration fee of approximately £194, this fee is set by the exam board so is subject to change.if you need to re-sit an exam, the fee is £63.00 per unit
You may be eligible for a fee remission if you're claiming eligible benefits or on a low wage. Our staff will confirm this when you complete your initial assessment before enrolling.
