Who is this course for

If you are curious about 3D printing and want to explore how everyday objects can be broken down, redesigned, and improved using 3D printing technology, this course is for you.

It is suitable for beginners and those with some prior exposure to digital making.

What are the entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however basic computer skills are recommended.

Prior experience with 3D printing or design software is helpful but not essential.

What will I be learning

During the course you will gain hands on experience to understand the basics of 3D printing technology and learn to use beginner friendly 3D design software.  This will enable you to create and edit simple 3D models and learn how to digitally deconstruct physical items into component parts.

By exploring how objects are designed and assembled, it will enable you to investigate the potential for innovation, repair, and upcycling through 3D printing.

How will I be assessed and supported

There is no formal assessment. You will be guided by the tutor and supported through practical tasks, discussions, and project based work.

Progress is demonstrated through the completion of a deconstructed and rebuilt object and Individual Learning Plan.

What do I need to bring?

Notepad and pen.

A small object to deconstruct.

All other equipment, including access to 3D printers and design software, will be provided.
