Who is this course for
The course is aimed at beginners who have no previous experience of signing or sign language skills.
It will be a good foundation for those learners wanting to progress onto Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language.
What are the entry requirements
The are no enrty requirements for this course.
What will I be learning
You will learn:
The British two-handed fingerspelling skills
Basic phrases using
questions
BSL vocabulary for colours
BSL vocabulary for numbers and
telling the time.
The main aim of the course is to introduce basic sign language as another method of communicating with Deaf people in everyday life for example socially, in family life, at work or in education.
How will I be assessed and supported
This course does not lead to a qualification. However, learners who complete the course will be given a certificate of attendance.
There will be an English/BSL interpreter, as it will be delivered by a deaf tutor.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a pen and paper as you may wish to make
notes.
