Who is this course for
Fees - almost all of our maths and English classes are fully funded meaning you will not need to pay fees. When you click apply now, use the drop down box to select the 'Full remission' option and this will zero the fees. Our staff will provide more information once you've booked your assessment.
The course helps you to work towards your own personal skills and goals and prepare for completing a Functional Skills English course in the future. This workshop style course will be personalised to your individual needs whatever point you are at in your learning journey.
The course will create a topic based learning programme that could also include elements of Maths, ICT, confidence building, employability and study skills as required to best support your progression.
The course will be delivered as an integrated programme and include traditional teaching methods blended with online tasks etc.
What are the entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but an initial assessment will be completed prior to enrolling onto this course to check prior knowledge and ensure you join the correct level course for you.
This course is not an alternative to ESOL courses (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

How will I be assessed and supported
These courses do not include a formal qualification so is a perfect way for you to get back into education or fill gaps in your knowledge without the pressure of exams. The course will enable you to build your skills and confidence and will enable you to progress onto accredited functional skills courses as soon as you are ready. Learners who progress quickly will still have the opportunity to take exams if appropriate.
At DALS, we use an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set and review targets and provide feedback, enabling continual reflection and evaluation throughout the course. Learners will also receive verbal and/or written feedback on marked work. Learners will use their ILP to help track and monitor their own progress towards set goals, to support personal development and achievement.
At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability and require support. Learners declaring a support need will be referred for an assessment. If an enhanced support need is confirmed, a Support Package will be offered, to assist your progress in your learning and development, specific to your assessed needs.
