Who is this course for
This course is ideal for learners who are already, or who want to, work in roles that offer specialist support for pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.This course is suitable for people who already have a level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning and who want to enhance their knowledge and skills by completing the additional diploma units.
What are the entry requirements
Learners must already have a Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and learning qualification.Learners must be working or volunteering in a school or college setting and will require the support of their school/college to enrol on this course.
Anyone wishing to enrol on this course will need to attend the information, advice and guidance session prior to the course starting to ensure that this is an appropriate course for them and that they understand the course requirements.
What will I be learning
On this course you will cover the units below
Support
children and young people’s speech, language and communication
Understand
how to support bilingual learners
Understand how to support learning of
children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Support children and young people during transitions
Support the role of
play, leisure and extra-curricular activities for children and young
people.
There is no exam for this course; you will collect a folder of
evidence showing what you have learned.
You will take part in discussions
and practical activities as well as completing written tasks.
You will be
observed in your school or college.
How will I be assessed and supported
At the beginning of the course, you will
set some goals with your tutor. Each week you will keep a reflective diary
recording your progress. Your tutor will give you regular written feedback on
this diary to let you know what you are doing well with and anything you could
do to improve.
Your tutor will also give you verbal feedback during classes
and written feedback on your work.
At the end of the course, you will review
your progress and discuss your progression route.
There is no formal exam.
To gain this qualification you will collect a folder of evidence to show
what you have learned.
What do I need to bring?
Pen and paper.
Learners will need to carry out additional
work outside the class, such as watching videos.
We have an online learning
platform with additional resources available to support your learning.
You
will need to have access to a PC or laptop to complete course work and access
support materials.
Any additional costs?
There is no exam and no addtional cost to this course.
