Who is this course for

This course is for adults with learning difficulties who would like to improve their cooking skills.
This course is suitable for people who want to improve their cooking skills to cook for themselves, and for those people who are wanting to work in catering.

What are the entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.

What will I be learning

On the course you will learn about
Cooking skills.
Kitchen safety, safe use of knives etc.
Food safety,  cleaning, safe storage of food
Healthy eating.
Skills for working in a catering environment.

How will I be assessed and supported

At the beginning of the course you will be given an individual learning plan and each week you will be asked to fill in things that you have learnt after each session has finished. In addition, your tutor will be giving you weekly verbal and written feedback on your progress.

 

 

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a pen and folder.
You will need to bring a sandwich box or similar to take home the food you have cooked.
You will need to wear flat comfortable shoes which cover the tops of your feet.
If you have long hair you will need to tie this up.
If you would like you can bring your own apron.

Any additional costs?

Each week you will cook some food to eat with us or take home. You will need to bring £3 towards the cost of the ingredients for this.
