Who is this course for

This course is aimed at parents and carers interested in finding out about how children learn and how you can encourage and support them.  The course will help you understand what phonics are and how they taught in school.
The course is delivered online, you need to have access to a device which connects to the internet, in order to access the sessions via MS Teams.
If you will be using a smartphone or a tablet, you will need to download the MIS Teams App.
If you will be using a laptop, you will be able to access the sessions via a link which will be provided by your tutor

What are the entry requirements

No experience or previous qualifications are required

What will I be learning

What phonics is and why it is important
Explore how children learn phonics, and how knowledge and confidence of phonics will improve their reading and spelling
Help you to pronounce the sounds

How will I be assessed and supported

Your tutor will guide you step by step, discuss your work with you, identify strengths and areas for further development.

You will also be given verbal and written feedback on your Individual Learning Plan.

What do I need to bring?

Notebook and pen,
