Who is this course for

This course is for parents and carers who want to feel more confident with everyday wellbeing, family finances, and supporting children’s learning at home.
If you’d like practical ideas to make life feel easier, from stretching your food shop, to helping with homework, these friendly sessions are designed for you.
No tests, no pressure, just useful skills you can start using straight away

What are the entry requirements

There are no entry requirements. You don’t need to have studied recently or have any qualifications. Just bring yourself and join in at a pace that feels comfortable.

What will I be learning

Throughout this course you’ll take part in a mix of finance, wellbeing, and family learning workshops designed to help you thrive at home and in daily life. Depending on which hub you attend, sessions may include:
Finance and Home Management:
Cooking on a Budget: affordable meal ideas and shopping tips.
Making the Food Shop Stretch: planning, leftovers, and reducing waste.
Budgeting Tips & Tricks: simple ways to keep track of money and reduce stress.
Promoting Healthy Eating for Children: Tips for balanced meals, snacks, and encouraging children to eat well.

Wellbeing:
First Aid: practical family first aid skills – available at Osmaston Allenton Family Hub only.

Family Learning:
Keeping Children Safe Online: practical guidance for parents.
Times Tables: confidence-building activities to help children learn.
Help with Maths Homework: understand the methods schools use today so you can support your child.

You’ll learn in a relaxed, supportive group with tutors who make every session practical and enjoyable.

How will I be assessed and supported

There is no formal assessment.
Yoi will get lots of encouragement, hands-on activities, and time to practise new skills.
Tutors will support you individually and help you explore next steps in learning, wellbeing, or family support.

What do I need to bring?

A notepad and pen, if you like taking notes,  everything else is provided.
