I missed the start of the course, can I still join a course?

If you miss the first session you may still be able to join the course of your choice.

To avoid disappointment you are advised to contact the centre where the course is running to check availability of places.

If you need more information, please contact us on 01332 956565 or email DALSenquiries@derby.gov.uk.

Courses

I have a holiday planned and will therefore miss a couple of sessions, is that ok?

We do not recommend taking holidays on weeks where you have classes as you can miss valuable input which can slow down your progress and leave you with gaps in your knowledge or skills.  We will also be unable to refund you for the classes you miss.  If you are thinking about booking a holiday in term time, please talk to your tutor.

If you need more information, please contact us on 01332 956565 or email DALSenquiries@derby.gov.uk.

Could I please have some more details about the course?

You can choose a course from one of our learning areas or use the advanced search feature to find a course based on specific criteria you are looking for.

This will be my first language course, will it be suitable for me?

Modern Foreign Languages - You can join one of our free tasters (‘Welcome to’ courses). It’s a great opportunity to trial a foreign language, meet a tutor and further enquire about the most suitable language course.

ESOL - You will need to book a place on a free initial assessment session where your reading, writing, speaking and listening will be assessed. You will then be placed onto the correct ESOL course to meet your needs.

If you need more information, please contact us on 01332 956565 or email DALSenquiries@derby.gov.uk.
